We build websites with Next.js and React, so you might expect us to say Next.js is always better. It is not. Both are good tools, and the right choice depends on how your business uses its website. Here is an honest comparison.
Quick comparison
| WordPress | Next.js | |
|---|---|---|
| Speed | Good when carefully optimised; plugins often slow it down | Fast by default when built well |
| SEO | Easy with SEO plugins | Excellent, but every element must be set up by the developer |
| Editing content | Easy for non-technical teams | Needs a CMS or admin panel set up for editors |
| Custom features | Through plugins, which can conflict | Built exactly to your needs |
| Security and updates | Core, theme and plugins need regular updates | Fewer moving parts to update |
| Best for | Blogs, small budgets, teams who edit daily | Lead-generating sites, listings, custom features, growth |
Does Next.js rank better on Google?
Not automatically. Google ranks pages, not frameworks. A well-built WordPress site can outrank a badly built Next.js site. What Next.js gives you is a strong starting point: fast pages, full control over every title and tag, and pages that Google can read without extra work. But someone still has to set up titles, descriptions, sitemaps and structured data correctly.
When WordPress is the right choice
- You publish blog posts every day and need many editors
- Your budget is small and a good theme covers your needs
- You need a feature that an existing plugin already does well
When Next.js is the right choice
- Your website is your main source of enquiries and speed matters
- You need custom features: property listings, booking, calculators, member areas, integrations
- You have outgrown plugins that slow your site down or keep breaking
- You want a site that can grow without being rebuilt
Can my team still edit the website?
Yes, if it is planned. A Next.js site can come with an admin panel or a headless CMS so your team can edit text, add blog posts and change images without a developer.
Will switching platforms affect my rankings?
It can, if the move is careless. Keeping the same URLs or setting up redirects from every old URL to its new page protects your rankings. Plan the redirects before launch, not after.
What about cost?
A WordPress site with a ready-made theme usually costs less upfront. A custom Next.js site costs more to build but needs fewer plugin fixes later. Our React websites start from ₹22,000 and Next.js websites from ₹35,000; see our pricing.
Our honest advice
If your website is mainly a brochure that rarely changes, WordPress or a simple React site may be all you need. If your website has to bring in leads, load fast on mobile and grow with your business, Next.js is worth the investment.
